Important Notes:
-
Since Fall Semester 2021 (110-1), all PBL tutors must complete PBL training and, within one week after the session, finish an online test on the e-learning platform and submit the e-PBL operation video.
-
New tutors must complete the training plus six hours of observation before becoming an independent PBL tutor.
-
According to School of Medicine policy, those who have not attended the PBL certification training and completed in-person observation are not eligible to serve as PBL tutors or write PBL cases.
-
Tutors must renew their certification at least once every two years.
-
Each tutor must attend all three group facilitation and feedback sessions for each assigned case.
-
Tutors with no prior experience will be paired with a senior tutor for mentorship and observation.
-
According to the Regulations for Faculty Evaluation (April 29, 2014), serving as a PBL tutor is considered part of the teaching performance indicators.
-
According to the Regulations for Faculty Promotion Scoring (January 16, 2015), this also counts toward the college-specific teaching performance category.
Attendance Policy & Penalties:
-
Absence: No teaching hours or credit will be granted.
-
Late Arrival: If late by more than 15 minutes, no hours will be recorded for that session.
-
If late by 15 minutes twice consecutively, the case will not be credited.
-
-
Starting from Fall 2022 (111-1), a penalty policy applies for last-minute cancellations:
-
If a tutor misses or is over 15 minutes late to one of the three sessions, only two sessions will be counted, and the case will not count toward promotion credit.
-
If a tutor misses or is late to two or more sessions, and no valid reason (e.g., hospitalization/surgery) is provided, no hours or promotion credit will be granted for that case.
-
If a tutor cancels a case within two weeks before the course starts, and later in the same semester is over 15 minutes late or absent from another case, the tutor will lose eligibility to sign up for the following semester.
